Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

We encourage every member of the family to attend a professional checkup and cleaning at least twice each calendar year, or once per six months on average. These visits are important because our team will have the opportunity to fully assess your current oral health and pinpoint any issues as they arise, potentially saving our patients from more extensive damage and cost later down the road. We’ll also clear away decay-causing plaque and tartar and polish the teeth for a healthier, smoother smile.

Gum Disease Treatment

Gum disease may start out as some minor oral bleeding after brushing or puffy tissue, but untreated cases can quickly develop into serious infections that will threaten your teeth and even your overall health. That’s why stopping it in its tracks as early as possible is a top priority for Dr. Weber and our team. We’ll perform dedicated periodontal screenings during regular appointments and can provide scaling and root planing as needed, which is a deep cleaning that targets dangerous build-ups of plaque and tartar around and underneath the gum line.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a quick and effective preventive method for helping patients (particularly children) stay safer against the threat of cavities. These “seals” are placed over the chewing surfaces of premolars and molars (the back teeth), which contain deep pits and grooves that can easily trap food particles over time. For smaller arms, it can be tough to properly maneuver the toothbrush and floss into these hard-to-reach areas, which leads to a much higher risk for tooth decay over time. Thankfully, the sealants will help block out bacteria and keep smiles healthier.

Sports Mouthguards

If you or a family member regularly participate in sports where physical contact (whether with other players or hard objects) is a possibility, protecting your smile from potential harm should be a top priority. At Weber Family Dentistry, we can design a custom-made athletic mouthguard (also known as a “sportsguard”) that is head and shoulders above the “one-size-fits-all” appliances you’d find at the store. This device will fit comfortably in the mouth, provide optimal durability and protection, and is even flexible enough to allow for easy breathing and speaking.

Nightguards for Bruxism

You probably know the term “bruxism” by a simpler name – teeth grinding. Both adults and children can end up as victims of this common bad habit, and many don’t even know it because they only experience the ill effects while sleeping. Thankfully, Dr. Weber and his team are very sensitive to the tell-tale symptoms, and they’ll be sure to bring them to your attention during checkups. Oral appliances known as nightguards can provide excellent protection for teeth, helping patients rest comfortably without worrying about causing damage to their smile.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer screenings are a vital part of every regular checkup here in Lincoln. The first symptoms of this dangerous and even deadly health condition typically occur in the oral tissue, which means a dedicated dentist like Dr. Weber can be your first line of defense! He will perform a comprehensive exam and a neck/jaw palpation (checking the areas with his hands) to determine if any strange crusts, lumps, or sores are present that need further attention.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride can be found in countless oral hygiene products and even most likely in the water that comes out of your kitchen sink at home – but why? Regular exposure to this natural mineral can actually greatly benefit your smile, strengthening the tooth enamel and fighting off decay through remineralization. If our team determines that you or your children could benefit from additional fluoride, we can provide professional treatments as a part of checkups and cleanings.

Children’s Dentistry

At Weber Family Dentistry, we enjoy caring for patients of all ages – our commitment to families is right there in our practice name! By working with your son or daughter from a young age, we can help them develop a positive relationship with the dentist’s office early on and give them the support their growing smile needs to thrive well into the future.

Emergency Dentistry

Have you badly injured a tooth? Are you or a loved one experiencing a severe ache somewhere in the mouth? Our team will always strive to accommodate patients of record who are experiencing dental emergencies as soon as possible, so don’t hesitate to contact us in Lincoln, NE for help. Dr. Weber’s goal is to relieve pain first and then start working on a customized treatment plan that will address the damage and bring back your smile’s strength and confidence in record time.

Scaling and Root Planing

When plaque and tartar have developed along the gum line, it’s impossible to remove it with at-home brushing and flossing alone. This is because bacteria has reached underneath the gum line, which can only be accessed by scaling and root planing, a specific treatment also referred to as “deep cleaning.” During your time here, Dr. Steve Weber will make sure you are prepared for your periodontal cleaning and do everything possible to protect and restore as much of your natural gum tissue as he can.
